Letters: All children are preciousand none should be aborted |
On Oct. 16, I, with about 450 other people, attended the yearly fund-raising dinner at the fairgrounds that's provided by the Pregnancy Care Center. The speaker was a 31-year-old woman, Gianna Jessen, that in 1977 survived an abortion that a doctor had performed on, or for, her mother. I won't go into the details of that event. As a retired licensed forester and a regular church attendee, I have heard many speeches, but Gianna's speech last night was a message like no other message I have heard before. Our lives on this Earth are very short and precious. Gianna's speech confirmed to me again that little unwanted babies are precious and are not to be destroyed. I was born in 1932 during the Great Depression. Was I wanted? Probably not. I'm glad I was not destroyed. I have really enjoyed my life. Gordon Karnes Klamath |
