Letters: Quiet residential streets should not house RVs

To our friends and neighbors coming here from central and southern California and Oregon to retire: Welcome to Crescent City! To those purchasing homes because of the codes, conditions and restrictions (CC & R's) to protect home values — we are sorry that the CC & Rs don't protect your home value as portrayed.

When the motor homes, fifth-wheelers and RVs move in, the neighborhood changes. Parking in the street and hooking up their extensions to their homes and then living in the RVs for extended periods of time, also cause emergency vehicles to have difficulty maneuvering down the street in times of need.

One would hope that CC & Rs could be enforced by local officials. We understand that some people are limited to where they can park, but quiet residential streets should not be their end destination. That's what RV parks are for!

Perhaps we could work together to enforce the codes and restrictions so that our diverse neighbors may enjoy their retirement and that the hard work that goes into maintaining our home values are protected. Welcome to Crescent City.
