Letters: McKernan for Harbor Comm.; Mangum for City Council |
I wish to commend The Triplicate on at least two of its endorsements for the upcoming election, those being Kevin McKernan for Harbor Commission and Jody Mangum for City Council. It has been my history to support the best candidates available in any election, regardless of political party, and in this election, these two fit that bill nicely. First of all, in regards to Kevin McKernan, I have known the individual just a few weeks. But in every case he has demonstrated a working knowledge of the harbor and has insightful ideas as to how to improve both the harbor and its image. He has the desire to serve the community and the ideas to be successful, to get things done and to make this a better harbor for our tenants, the fishermen, the tourist, the community and most of all our families. I have found him to be cooperative, resourceful, and his grant writing experience will be extremely helpful for bringing much-needed funding into our depleted harbor. In short, he would bring badly needed dignity and intelligence to our Harbor Commission. In regards to Jody Mangum, my knowledge is based on knowing her for three to four years. It has been my experience to see her as a caring, helpful, watchful and financially sound individual. She truly desires to serve this community in keeping restraints on our budget, being fair in spreading the cost of that budget to all parties concerned, working with fellow members to getting things done and has the best interest of our community at heart. She thinks of solutions, in that for every problem she discovers, she finds at least two ways in which that problem can be solved. She also has a great history of getting people involved and working so that solutions can be arrived at. She has a great deal of intelligence and dignity to bring to the City Council. My support of these two individuals in no way reduces my position of running for Harbor Commission. In fact, I feel that it makes it stronger. If elected, I would find it an honor to serve and work with two such dynamic, intelligent, caring and insightful individuals. So on Nov. 4, please join with me in supporting Jody Mangum for City Council and Kevin McKernan for Harbor Commission. The election of all of these candidates will surely make for a brighter tomorrow. James Ramsey Candidate for Harbor Commission |
