Letters: Washington couple married in Del Norte urges no' on 8 |
We took an unexpected vacation to California this summer, grateful that the state would allow us to legally marry. We would like to thank Del Norte County Clerk and Recorder Vicky Frazier and her staff, and many of the people and businesses of Crescent City, who made our wedding day very special. We are an average American family: two wage earners, one child, with hopes for a second child. We have a mortgage and student loans. We attend a local church. We are members of the PTA at our son's school. We deserve the same recognition and economic stability as heterosexual families. I encourage you to vote "no" on Proposition 8 on Nov. 4. Please continue to allow same-sex couples to fulfill their dreams in California, if not in their home state. And, by the way, we spent $1,500 in Crescent City same sex marriage is good for the economy. Mary Moran Melissa Bullock Tacoma, Wash. |
