Letters: Stealing campaign signs a cowardly way to silence others |
A presidential campaign sign I had displayed on my front lawn was recently taken. I retired from the military after serving this country for 21 years. Having been raised in a military family, I've spent close to a quarter of my life living in other countries, as well as five states. I have been married to my wife, an Asian, for more than 30 years. I have a college degree and am employed on a full-time basis. Although none of this necessarily means I am more knowledgeable or understanding of world or national affairs than anyone else, it should mean I have at least some knowledge or understanding of such matters. Yet some person feels they have more right to voice their opinion than do I. I have no idea who took the sign from my lawn, but I will venture to guess they never served in the military, do not have a college degree and are a coward. Stealing campaign signs is a cowardly way of trying to stop others from sharing their opinions and showing support for people and causes they believe in. Frank Marulli Crescent City |
