Letters: Accusations by Joei Sanches are groundless and misleading |
So far I have remained silent when misquoted and/or somewhat misrepresented. It is time I break that silence as there has now been a direct attack upon my character by way of a blue note hung on my front door. In a campaign flyer by an opponent who knows nothing of me and has never even met me, Joei Sanches contends that I am corrupt. To that, I say: "How dare you, madam?" That's some schmaltz! The accusations in this 11th-hour gambit are as groundless and false as they are misleading. The very first section states that the incumbent running for re-election is under investigation by the grand jury. While it is true it is also misleading as it was Ms. Nickerson herself who requested that investigation. I refer anyone interested in the facts to look at the minutes of Aug. 18, 2008, page 7, available on the city's Web site for all to see. If that portion of the campaign propaganda is in error, as it clearly is, by omission, then the rest of it comes into serious question. Additionally I would like to clarify that my run for office isn't simply because "a friend asked me to." I am running to give the people a choice other than Sanches, who is attempting to sue the city of Crescent City for millions. That's right: millions. And what constitutes the City of Crescent City? It is the people; everyone who lives here! Frankly we cannot afford to hire Sanches. The blue-note campaign flyer is a repulsive example of dirty politics and conspiracy theories. I urge and trust the good people of Crescent City to cast their votes with care and thought in this election. Dianne VonHeeder Crescent City |
