Letters: Enea a positive force on the City Council |
Richard Enea's voice of reason, accomplishment, pride and optimistic enthusiasm stood out like a beacon during the City Council candidates forum recently held by The Triplicate. In the short time that he has served on the Council, Richard has participated in many of its accomplishments, including blight removal, the swimming pool renovation, wastewater treatment plant upgrades, a new pharmacy store, a new affordable apartment complex, and a new medical response vehicle for the fire department. Richard was instrumental in kicking into high gear the city's blight program. Having lived and worked as a policeman in the Bay Area for 30 years, Richard was familiar with an easier method of improving blighted properties through receivership rather than the criminal court proceedings the city was pursuing previously. This changed a long difficult process into one with nearly immediate results, as evidenced in the Square Deal building which is now the beautiful Pacific Coast Plaza, and the City Center Motel, where new apartments will hopefully soon be built. Richard serves on various local commissions, advisory groups and boards of directors. As a member of the Local Transportation Commission, he fought to expand the bus routes. He joined the Tri-Agency to help small businesses get started and remain in business. He was a member of the Airport Advisory Committee, where he helped create a joint powers agreement with the county, city, Elk Valley Rancheria and Brookings. He serves on the Advisory Board of the Boys and Girls Club to help give children planned recreational and safety programs. He is also a board member of Rural Human Services, the Local Agency Formation Commission, and the Chamber of Commerce. In addition, Richard is a proud member of the Castle Rock Charter School Advisory Board. As a former law enforcement officer, Richard is committed to safeguarding the community and plans to add two officers to the city's police department when funds are available. He is working to expand the airport runways, envisions a brighter, blight-free future for Crescent City and aims for responsible economic growth. He believes the city must live within its means and manage residents' tax dollars responsibly. I believe Richard Enea is a strong, positive force on the City Council, working for a brighter future for Crescent City. Please vote for him so he can continue to serve our interests. Michael P.
