Letters: Hoone wants your vote for City Council |
If I have not met you already, my name is Tim Hoone and I am running for City Council. I love Crescent City and want to see it be a better place to live, work and visit. I have the skills, vision and experience necessary to guide our city. As director of the Workforce Center, I work directly with dozens of local businesses, managing programs and staff that help grow local businesses and help citizens fund jobs and training for better jobs. I take action to solve problems, such as authoring the America's Wild Rivers Coast Hospitality Training Grant, bringing in $2.1 million dollars for much-needed training of employees of local businesses. I support simple, low-cost programs that can inspire pride in our community, such as matching funds for downtown business improvements. I am also treasurer of the Business Improvement District, working as a group to support and improve downtown Crescent City. I support a fair and equitable way of distributing water and sewer rate increases, which must take into account fixed incomes. My experience supporting local businesses and building partnerships with the county Board of Supervisors, Del Norte County School District, College of the Redwoods and many other organizations makes me stand out from other candidates as a person involved in our community, actively working to improve Crescent City. Please vote for me Nov. 4. I will be proud to serve as your City Councilor. Tim Hoone Crescent City |
