Letters: Support Caldwell andMoore for Health Board |
In regard to your article, "3 Candidates vying for Health Board," I would like to address some quotes made by Mr. Don Johnson. Mr. Johnson states that, "I don't know what exactly needs to be focused on." The obvious reason for this statement is that he doesn't attend our monthly Board meetings. In addressing Johnson's statement about "not enough community awareness," Mr. Johnson must not have been paying attention, or have done any research, regarding public hearings held on the sale of the old Seaside Hospital site, or the public hearings on the sale of the district property at 200 A St., or the numerous public hearings on the 550 E. Washington building that houses the Del Norte Community Open Door Heath Center, the Area One Agency on Aging, and the Healthcare District office. Last, and I assure not least, what is Mr. Johnson implying when he says, "I would like to see where the money is going because I do believe that everyone on the board has a business interest"? Del Norte Healthcare District meetings, minutes, records and audits are open to the public. Look for yourself. Anyone interested in running for a public office should take the time to acquaint themselves with the workings of the organization, and not have to ask questions that could be readily obtained from public records of the office. I encourage voters to support Dr. Kevin Caldwell and Clarke Moore, who do know what they are talking about when it comes to the health care district and health care in our community.
