Letters: Obama win replaces cynicism and politics of aristocracy |
Although I disagree with John McCain on nearly all issues upon which Campaign 2008 has been waged, I was moved as well as surprised by his profoundly human concession speech Tuesday evening. Was this the real John McCain who finally stood up? On the other hand, I am overjoyed to look forward to hope and cooperation among all Americans as the moving forces in national government to replace the cynicism and politics of aristocracy of the last eight years. Barack Obama in his own words, is not "a perfect man, and (he) will not be a perfect president," but his victory in this election grants us all a stake in working together to heal the wounds we Americans have suffered at our own hands and at the hands of others in the recent past. Tears of joy will continue to moisten my eyes in the weeks and months ahead as we reap the rewards of committing to the "audacity of hope." Sue Anderson Crescent City |
