Letters: How far do people have togo to be all-inclusive? |
I don't even know how to address that Proposition 8 vote but I will try. If the vote would have been about civil unions, the vote more than likely would have been different. How far do people have to go to be all-inclusive? The only thing that I have seen in this country since the 1960's is an attack on religion and family values. First thing to go was prayer in school, followed by Christmas vacation (now winter break) and Easter vacation (now spring break). Then it was to put a stop to Christmas parties and programs. Now it is gay marriage over the sanctity of a marriage between a man and a woman? Then it will have to all be taught in the schools. The debate is loud over taking "In God We Trust" off the money and "One Nation Under God" out of the pledge. Is the next vote going to make churches and Christian schools illegal because we offend the few that have decided that to worship is too pass? Some people, and I am one, feel that saying no on Proposition 8 would have devalued the beliefs of many. Many Christian feel separate and not equal right now. Brenda Johnston Crescent City |
