Letters: Quite upset that Measure A passed in Del Norte County

I resent Measure A. Every time they need money for something, the homeowners get hit with higher property taxes. We worked our whole live to have a roof over our head that we can call our own. Now they are about to tax us right out of our homes. Especially right here in Del Norte County, there are a lot of senior citizens who saved all their lives to buy a home. Most of them live just on social security, as my wife and I do. I can't believe that no argument against this measure was submitted. I wonder how many "no" votes got accidentally lost, because 90 percent of home owners I spoke to, voted "no." Why don't they raise the sales tax by a quarter or half a percent so everybody has to pay, even out-of-towners and tourists. Wouldn't that be a better idea? Axel Antes Crescent City |
