Letters: Del Norte High School band, quarterback are class acts

I would like to commend the parents, football players and band members of Del Norte High School at the football game on Nov. 7 between Fortuna High (Humboldt County) and the Del Norte Warriors.

As parents and grandparents, we were so impressed by the "class act" of the Del Norte band members and players at the game.

At halftime a few Del Norte band members came over to the Fortuna side of the field, talking and jamming with the Fortuna band members. Pretty soon we noticed that all of the Del Norte band members came over to the Fortuna side and the two bands were playing together, obviously having a great time together.

The Del Norte band played with the Fortuna band the entire third and fourth quarters on the Fortuna side of the field, and I must say we, as their audience, were treated to such beautiful music.

I may also add that the Del Norte quarterback also showed his "class act" in coming over at the game's end and shaking hands with the Fortuna coaches and players in a game well done. In spite of the fact that Del Norte lost the game, I think these teenagers showed what life should all be about and that is being such "class acts."
