Locals take part in triathlon in Bay Area |
Members of the local sports group, Wild Rivers Multi Sports, took part in the San Francisco Triathlon at Treasure Island last weekend. The races consisted of Olympic distance races last Saturday, including the Pan Am Championship races for professional and Olympic triathletes followed by the sprint distance triathlon on Sunday consisting of a 500 m swim, a 20 km bike, and a 5 km run. Shawn Burke, 47, finished on Sunday at 1:02:15, which placed him 3rd in his age group and 7th overall. Linda Blundell, 50, finished in a time of 1:08:02, which placed her first in her age group. Michael Saberr, 46, finished at 1:20:32 in the sprint distance, placing him 12th in his division. The day prior, Saberr finished the Olympic distance triathlon in 3:05:52. Isaac Blundell, 13, finished with a time of 1:24:28, which placed him 4th in his division. Don Hartley, 58, finished in 1:27:19, which placed him 11th in his division. Sidney Hintz, 13, finished at 1:36:08, which placed her 4th in her division. Sandra Swift, 42, finished her first triathlon in 1:36:22, which placed her 16th in her age division.
