Tribal police search for man |
Missing since Nov., foul play suspected The Yurok Tribal Police Department announced Wednesday it is searching for a man missing since last year, and foul play is possible. Melvin Dean Perkins, 48, was last seen at the Cher-ere Bridge Campground in Klamath last Nov. 3.“We are investigating this missing persons case as possible foul play,” said Tribal Police Chief Dave Parris in a press release. He could not be reached for further comment Wednesday. Perkins was described as white, 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 165 pounds. He was last seen traveling from the campground on East Klamath Beach Road to Eureka in a white 2000 Ford truck with an extended cab and temporary tags, police said. The truck is also missing. Authorities are trying to locate Eric Shrader, 38, of Arcata for questioning in the case, police said. “We have tried unsuccessfully to contact Mr. Shrader,” Parris said in the release. “Mr. Shrader may have been the last person to see Mr. Perkins before his disappearance.” Most of Perkins’ relatives are in Missouri, Parris said, but he added that police are interested in speaking with friends of Perkins. Anyone with information on Perkins or Shrader is asked to call Sgt. Heather Landreneaux at the Yurok Tribal Police office, 707-482-8185, or send an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
