Police Logs March 27, 2009

Here are excerpts from the Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office call logs for March 19-25.

Thursday, March 19

• At 3:05 a.m., a report of domestic violence on the 12400 block of U.S. Hwy. 101 in Smith River.

• At 8:14 a.m., rings were reported stolen from a house on the 3100 block of Lake Earl Drive.

• At 5:24 p.m., juveniles tampering with a mailbox at a home were reported on the 800 block of El Dorado.

• At 7:05 p.m., a prowler was reported by a person who flagged down an officer on the 500 block of Elk Valley Road.

• At 7:20 p.m., a vehicle into a tree was reported on U.S. Hwy. 199 near the Hiouchi Motel.

• At 11:42 p.m., a grass fire was reported at the end of Kellog Road in Fort Dick.

Friday, March 20

• At 7:07 a.m., a fight between a female and several males was reported at Northcrest Trailer City, 1950 Northcrest Drive.

• At 11:18 a.m., $1,200 was reported stolen from a home on the 2800 block of Prince Road.

• At 1:11 p.m., two vehicles were reportedly vandalized at a home on the 2000 block of Northcrest Drive.

• At 4:31 p.m., a reported theft of a  TV in the 2200 block of Northcrest.

• At 4:37 p.m., an assault was reported on  the 300 block of Beckstead.

• At 6:10 p.m., two people were reported fighting on the 1300 block of J Street, with one person wielding a baseball bat.

• At 7:40 p.m., fraud involving the solicitation of money was reported on the 100 block of Miracle Lane.

• At 8:07 p.m., sheriff’s officers and city police responded to a fight in the  600 block of H Street, which involved a report of a person with a baseball bat.

• At 11:30 p.m., a person reported a man had swallowed razor blades on the 100 block of Wilson Avenue.

Saturday, March 21

• At 10:49 a.m., a person reported a possible broken leg after a TV fell at Addie Meedom House, 1445 Parkway.

• At 12:42 p.m., a door was reported kicked in on the 1700 block of Muncy Lane.

• At 9:02 p.m., large caliber shots were reportedly heard in the 2000 block of Holben Road.

• At 9:14 p.m., a house fire was reported on the 2700 block of Alder Road.

Sunday, March 22

• At 2:32 a.m., two females and two males were reported breaking into a shed on the 100 block of Olive Street.

• At 2:41 p.m., a person in a home on the 1600 block of Northcrest reported someone staying at an abandoned home had plugged into her utilities.

• At 5:23 p.m., a patient in the emergency room reported having been beaten in a county area, but not sure where.

• At 7:27 p.m., a window was reported broken, and a cash register lying on the ground, inside a building on the 500 block of East Harding.

• At 8:24 p.m., an assault was  reported on the 2600 block of Le Clair Avenue.

• At 9:33 p.m., a chimney fire was reported on the 200 block of Rose Lane in Smith River.

Monday, March 23

• At 4:57 a.m., a person reported being bitten on the arm by a “wolf dog” on the 2200 block of Hunter Creek Road.

• At 7:25 a.m., a vandalism on the 800 block of Small Avenue, including the throwing of dye on playground equipment.

• At 10:04 a.m., a dog that was reportedly attacked by a pitbull in Gasquet a few days ago reportedly  died.

• At 1:09 p.m., the Drug Task Force responded to a report of drug activity at a home on the 1600 block of Bethesda Way.

• At 2:43 p.m., a nail gun was reported stolen from a home on Hunter Creek Road in Klamath.

• At 5:11 p.m., a vehicle fire was reported on the 200 block of Hill Street.

• At 7:43 p.m., two females were reported fighting on the 100 block of E Street.

Tuesday, March 24

• At 2:49 a.m., an assault was reported on the 800 block of Childs Avenue.

• At 8:41 a.m., a burglary was reported on the 300 block of Winter Lane and drums, tools, electronic equipment and many other items were reported stolen.

• At 11:54 a.m., a handgun was reported missing from a home on the 2100 block of Harmony Lane.

• At 12:32 p.m., caretakers at a home on the 100 block of Maple Road reported the garage had been broken into.

• At 2:47 p.m., a chimney fire was reported at a home on the 1800 block of Dundas.

• At 6:02 p.m., a person reported someone was cutting down trees at the end of Reddy Avenue.

• At 8:33 p.m., an assault was reported on the 1000 block of Malaney Drive.

Wednesday, March 25

• At 1:34 a.m., a fire was reported four miles from the Wagon Wheel in Gasquet on U.S. Highway 199.

• At 6:50 a.m., deputies and CHP officers responded to a report of a person trespassing at the CHP office at 1444 Parkway.

• At 8:55 a.m., a person reported her credit card was used to make unauthorized Internet purchases from the 100 block of Schlacks Lane.

• At 1:40 p.m., a residential break-in and  was reported on the 200 block of Redwood Road in Klamath.

• At 6:46 p.m., three juvenile shoplifting suspects were detained at Wal-Mart.

Here are excerpts from the activity log of the Crescent City Police Department for March 19- March 25.

Thursday, March 19

• At 9:20 a.m., police spoke with Chase Bank Fraud Services regarding a check cashing fraud case from March 11.

• At noon, three fake $50 bills were reported at U.S. Bank, 1020 Third St.

• At 6:44 p.m., a verbal altercation was reported after an assault involving two females occurred on the 800 block of C Street. No arrests made.

Friday, March 20

• At 8 a.m., a police dog assisted the Sheriff’s Office and located a marijuana pipe and an unknown white pill on the 1700 block of Northcrest.

• At 11:44 p.m., a purse was reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle on the 1200 block of Ninth Street.

• At 4:20 p.m., U.S. Bank, 1020 Third St., reported a teller was threatened with a three-hole punch. At 5:31 p.m., the bank reported the same suspect attempted to cash a check not belonging to him at the bank.

• At 11:25 p.m., a 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of trespassing and possession of marijuana, less than an ounce, at the Safeway in the U.S. Highway 101 shopping center.

Saturday, March 21

• At 7:30 a.m., police responded to a report of panhandling at the U.S. Highway 101 shopping center and took a person to Sutter Coast Hospital for cold exposure and extreme intoxication after issuing a citation for public intoxication.

Sunday, March 22

• At 4:19 p.m., a person was reported driving on the beach at Battery Point and A streets, and using a chain saw to cut firewood.

• At 7:26 p.m., four people were asked to leave the Crescent City jetty.

• At 7:30 p.m., a police dog found  a syringe on Ninth and L streets.

Monday, March 23

• At 2:02 p.m., an animal was reported in an abandoned apartment on the 900 block of Pacific.

• From 3 p.m. until 4:42 p.m. police conducted foot patrols in the east and west ends of Fifth Street, the area behind the U.S. Hwy. 101 shopping center, to locate transient camps. Several camps were located and three transients were contacted, two of whom were arrested for public intoxication.

• At 5:51 p.m., a Nintendo DS portable video game system and 12 games were reported stolen from a vehicle on the 600 block of Coolidge Avenue.

• At 7:50 p.m., two girls were reported fighting on the 100 block of E Street, One fled prior to arrival.

• At 9:35 p.m., a 28-year-old male parolee was arrested on a parole violation warrant from a home on the 800 block of I Street.

• At 11:46 p.m., a report of three people looking into vehicles with flashlights in the Pebble Beach and Condor area.

Police responded and an 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of petty theft, one juvenile was taken to his parents and another subject who fled the scene was not located.

 Tuesday, March 24

• From 3:26 a.m. until 3:45 a.m., police assisted the Sheriff’s Office with tracking a parolee. The police dog was used, but the parolee was not located.

• At 4:05 a.m., an i Pod and MP3 player were reported stolen from the 1700 block of Gainard.

• At 11:39 p.m., police assisted the Sheriff’s Office with reported car burglaries on Huntington and Condor Streets. Three victims were contacted and one arrest was made.

• At 12:20 p.m., a theft from a vehicle was reported at Les Schwab, 1105 Northcrest.

• From 1:09 p.m. until 2:21 p.m., police patrolled homeless camps at the ends of Fifth Street, multiple camps were found and two people were arrested for public intoxication.

Wednesday, March 25

• At 3:12 p.m., several transient camps were located behind the Fire Hall on Washington Boulevard.

• At 9:58 p.m. a spousal battery suspect fled the scene on the 100 block of West Essex Street and was not located.

• At 5:38 p.m. a juvenile reported she was assaulted by a known male at Del Norte High School.
