Application deadline extended for Youth Conservation Corps

The Redwood National and State Parks is again hosting a Youth Conservation Corps this summer and has extended the application deadline to Wednesday.

The program offers people ages 15-18 a chance to participate in conservation work throughout the Redwood National and State Parks.

The program runs for eight weeks and six young men and six young women will be selected from Del Norte and Humboldt counties to participate and will earn $8 an hour.

Specific work includes trail building and maintenance, painting, landscape projects and general park clean-up. Natural and resource conservation education will also be incorporated into the eight-week program, as well as a backcountry camping trip and year-end picnic.

Applications for the program have been distributed to local high school counseling offices in Del Norte and Humboldt counties and are due back at park headquarters Friday.

For more information about the program, or to receive an application, call the parks at (707) 465-7321, or 465-7323.
