Obituary: Gene Dean |
Gene Dean passed into the presence of his Lord on Thursday, May 28, 2009. Gene was born in Cochranton, Pa., went to high school in El Paso, Texas, and moved to L.A. where he graduated from Marshall High School. He went to college, worked as an electrician, and eventually enlisted in the Army Air Corp. He served as a radio operator in a B-29 and was stationed on Saipan during WW II. He married Joan Randall in 1943 and moved to Gasquet in 1948. Their son, John, was born in 1950. Gene worked in the timber industry and retired from Miller-Rellim after working for them for 20 years. He was a member of the American Legion, the Gasquet Volunteer Fire Department, and, since 1971, of the Gasquet Bible Church where he served as Treasurer and greeter on Sunday mornings. His ready humor, gentle spirit, and love for Jesus Christ were appreciated by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joan; his son, John; his daughter-in-law, Karey; grandchildren, Caleb, Matthew, Elizabeth and Samuel; his great-granddaughter, Zoey; and his beloved sister-in-law, Cathy Dean. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Jay V. and Eleanor Dean; and his brother, Jay. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 6, at 2:00 p.m. at the Gasquet Bible Church at 1340 Gasquet Flat Road in Gasquet. Memorials may be made to the Gasquet Bible Church Building Fund.
