Obituary: Charles Norman Jones (Sept. 18, 1951 - June 4, 2009)

Charles Norman Jones, 57, passed away on June 4, 2009. In Crescent City a life long time resident of Del Norte County, he was born on September 18, 1951.

Charles graduated from Del Norte High School and Madera Vocational School in Madera, CA, with high honors. He was a firefighter for two years and had worked for local saw mills throughout the years. He was a council member of Tolowa Nation and also served on the Election Board for the State of California.

Charles’s pastimes were putting together car models, swimming, and spending time outdoors and  with his family. He was loving, caring, kind and understanding to all and will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

Survivors include:

Mother Patrie Butler, children Pamela, Sadie, Kim, Patrie, Gorbette, Char and Yolanda "Yogi" Jones.

Sisters Gorbette Ramos and her children Mickey Jones, Jonathan Bradell, Eugena Bradell and Rodrigo Gorbet; Vada Berry and her children Kee-poon Simms and Malea Simms.

Brother Harold Jones and wife Noreen Jones and their children, Raymond Jones, Victoria Carlson, Farrah Dehose Carroll, Dewey Jones, Sonny Jones, Jimmie Jones and Richard Dean.

Numerous cousins (who are like brothers and sisters), great nieces, great nephews and friends.

Visitation was held at Wier’s Mortuary Chapel on Monday, June 8.

Funeral Services were also held on Monday, June 8 at Wier’s Mortuary Chapel at 1:00 P.M. with interment following at the IOOF Memorial Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Wier’s Mortuary Chapel of Crescent City.
