• Jessamine Lee Nail, 10, died June 6, 2009, in Palo Alto. The Smith River School student was born Nov. 10, 1998, in Morristown, Tenn.

Visitation  will be held at Wier’s Mortuary Chapel on Thursday from 3 to 6 p.m. with a Rosary following. Christian Burial Mass will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Saint Josephs Catholic Church in Crescent City with a reception following in the arts and crafts building at the Del Norte Fairgrounds. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or to Ronald McDonald House at 520 Sand Hill Road, Palo Alto, CA 94304. Arrangements by Wier's Mortuary Chapel of Crescent City.

• John Delano Borges, 73, died June 7, 2009, in Crescent City He was born  March 11, 1936 in McKinleyville.

He requested no services. A family gathering will be held at a later date. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the John D. Borges Vocational Scholarship Award for the Del Norte High School Scholarship Foundation.
