Obituary-Anita Marie Sutherland (Nov. 26, 1935 - June 5, 2009)

Anita Marie Sutherland, 73, passed away on June 5, 2009 in Crescent City. She was born to Ruth & James Ellison on November 26, 1935 in Weed, Calif. Anita was a member of the Wintu Tribe. She was a 41 year resident of Del Norte County.

Anita had a total of nine children, 2 from a previous marriage. She met Robert Sutherland in 1959, they shared seven children.

She loved to cruise around town on her scooter and give the kids a ride. Bingo was one of her favorite pastimes. Anita was a great cook and was generous with her homemade bread, biscuits, fudge and fresh fruit jams and jellies.

Mom, Gram, Mamo and ol Gramma, you will be missed but always in our hearts! Your spirit will soar within us forever upon this earth until we meet again.

Anita is survived by her children Rebecca Keene (husband Matt), Sheryl Miller (husband Dennis), Burt Sutherland, Robert Sutherland, Cheri Suthe­rland, Jeannie Clewell (husband Ron), Deanna Beardon and Willie Beardon.

Grandchildren Damion, Kierstin & Tyler Keene, Kimberly, Holly & Amy Miller, Jeannie Sherman, Gary Jr & Patrick McConkey, Robert, Christopher, Sara Clewell & Kristie Rippetoe, Phillip, Bobby, Ryan Tabitha & Trevor Sutherland, Andrea, Amber, Mora & Brittany Sutherland, Christina Alvarez, Lawrence & Jennifer DeWolf, Kenneth Evans, James, Tanya & Shawna Beardon.

Great grandchildren Brooke & Brandon Rippetoe, Tevin, Alexus, Taylor, Jordon Inge, Alaia & Hunter Sherman, Rylan & Tristin Clewell, Austin, Justin & Carmin Parker, Kayla, Kyler, Randylynn & Gracie McConkey, Brandon & Mahaila McConkey, Wyatt & Dayton & Tira Sutherland, April & Jerry Lee De Wolf, Rueben, Aaron, Shannon & Emily, Daniel Alvarez.

She adored all her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son Patrick Thomas Sutherland and granddaughter Shawna Beardon.

A celebration of life service will be held at Beachfront Park on Saturday, June 13 at noon. If raining, then the services will be at the home of Rebecca & Matt Keene.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wier’s Mortuary Chapel of Crescent City.
