Obituary: Don Craig Mather (Apr. 11, 1936-June 19, 2009)

Don was born to John Mather and Alice Ames on April 11, 1936, in Santa Cruz, Calif. They moved to Crescent City where he went to grammar school and graduated from Del Norte High School. He married Pauline Brandes and had 4 children: Trena, Coos Bay, Ore.; Donna and husband, Mike, Visalia, Calif.; Warren Mather, Redding, Calif., and Jeff Mather, Gasquet, Calif. He had 3 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Don worked as a bread truck driver for many years. He divorced and moved to Los Angeles for 12 years, then retired and moved back to Crescent City for his remaining years.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and just hanging out with longtime friends.

A celebration of Don’s life, with a gathering of friends and family, will be held at the Elks Lodge at 6 p.m. this Saturday.
