Wanda June Kibby born in Crescent City on April 16, 1960 passed away in Eureka on June 23, 2009 at the age of 49 years. A life long resident of Del Norte County, she made her home in Smith River. Wanda attended local schools and graduated from Del Norte High school. She was a member of the Yurok Tribe and very proud of her Indian heritage. One of her favorite pastimes was playing softball in the adult softball leagues.

Survivors include: her children, Bonni Steele of Albuquerque, N.M.; Frank Eagle Pipe Brooks of Crescent City and Richard C.M. Brooks of Crescent City; grandchildren, Amberrose Steele; Arelli Steele; Altezza Inez Proctor; Joshua Avery Gauna; Ezekiel Jadyn Gauna and Nakai Dominique Gonzalez;  nephew, Jai Kibby; nieces, Melissa Kibby and Jamaica Kibby; brother, David C. Kibby of Smith River, life-long family friend, Jack Miller and the father of her children, Richard Brooks Sr. She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Gertrude Kibby and her brother, Daniel Kibby

A visitation will be held at Wier’s Mortuary Chapel in Crescent City on Tuesday, June 30, from 9 a.m. till funeral services in Wier’s Chapel at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in the IOOF Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Wier’s Mortuary Chapel.
