The Del Norte Grizzlies had a tough weekend against a familiar opponent, splitting a home double-header Saturday and dropping both games Sunday at Eureka.

Saturday’s games both went extra innings, with Eureka winning the opener 5-3 in 9 innings, and Del Norte taking the second game 2-1 in 8 innings.

On Sunday, Eureka won 10-0 and 6-2.

The Grizzlies are now 15-4 for the season, and they won three of six against Eureka. Today the Del Norte American Legion team departs for Spokane, Wash., where it will compete in a 24-team wooden bat tournament starting Thursday.

“We’re looking forward to getting out of town and playing somebody other than Eureka,” Coach Eric Enos said Monday, adding the Grizzlies “didn’t play inspired baseball” over the weekend.
