Rally for the Cure Golf tournament a big hit |
The Rally for the Cure Golf Tournament, presented by the Del Norte Women’s Golf Club and sponsored by Elk Valley Rancheria, Lucky 7 Casino, Rumiano Cheese Company, and Sutter Coast Hospital, took place on Saturday at the Del Norte Golf Course.
The tournament featured 71 women who golfed at the event, many decked out in pink clothing and wigs. All of the money raised at the tournament will go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for breast cancer research and education. The 4-woman scramble was preceded by a lunch, golf clinics presented by Kirk Burrows and Chris Rice, golf coaches at Del Norte High School, and local golf instructor Gary Parkhurst, and golf games to help reinforce the lessons learned in the clinics. Winners of the 18-hole event were the team of Becky Crowell, Vickie Casovia, Mary Foote, and Susan Root, while Dixie Rosprim, Mickey Fields, and Beth Schafer won the 9-hole contest. The grand prize winner for “closest to the hole” on hole number 3 was Martha Hintz. |
