Destruction Derby event to be held at fair

The Jalopy Destruction Derby and Tuff Truck extravaganza is set for Aug. 9 at the Del Norte County Fair in Crescent City.

The afternoon will kick off  at 2 p.m. with the annual best appearing car contest.  That will be followed by demolition derby heat races and a giant  destruction finale. The action will continue until one car is left running. Throughout the event, drivers may use any means or methods to eliminate their opponent from further competition except head-on collisions or ramming into the driver’s door . The winner of the event will pocket $1,200.

The Tuff Trucks will appear between the derby events as each driver will have the chance to set a new track record and claim the $75 first place prize.
