Play Mustangs on Sept. 11 at home
It may only be Aug. 1 today but it’s never too early to take a look at the upcoming Del Norte High football season.
The Warriors varsity team will be looking for another successful
year and aims to make the playoffs for the fifth straight season.
Del Norte finished last season 5-5 overall.
The Warriors will open the season with a home game against the Hidden Valley Mustangs of Oregon on Sept., 11 at Mike Whalen Field at the high school.
The next week the Warriors face Little 5 powerhouse Ferndale for the first time in several years. Del Norte opens the Big 4 Conference season on Oct. 9, with an away game against rival Eureka.
Bob Hadfield, the former athletic director at the high school, will begin his first year as head coach.
When he was named head coach in April Hadfield said that he wanted his team to “compete and succeed with style.”
Below is the tentative football schedule.

Sept. 3: Freshman at Hoopa, 5 p.m.
Sept. 11: Hidden Valley at home, JV 5 p.m., varsity, 7:30 p.m.
Sept. 17: Freshman versus Grants Pass at home, 5 p.m.
Sept. 18: Ferndale at home, JV 5 p.m., varsity 7:30 p.m.
Sept. 25: at Amador Valley, JV 5 p.m., varsity 7:30 p.m.
Oct. 9: at Eureka, JV 5 p.m., varsity 7:30 p.m.
Oct. 16: Fortuna at home, JV 5 p.m, varsity 7:30 p.m, homecoming.
Oct. 23: at Arcata, JV 5 p.m., varsity 7:30 p.m.
Oct 30: Eureka at home, JV 5 p.m., varsity 7:30 p.m.
Nov. 6: at Fortuna, JV 5 p.m., varsity 7:30 p.m.
Nov. 13: Arcata at home, JV 5 p.m., varsity 7:30 p.m.
