Lucky 7 Casino hosts benefit car show |
Car show enthusiasts can show their support for the local families serviced by the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) by entering their vehicles into the 11th annual MDA Benefit Car Show. The car show will run from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 5 at the Lucky 7 Casino in Smith River. Entry is $30 per car, with the proceeds benefitting MDA. Dayle Niemie, an MDA client from Brookings, Ore., with muscular dystrophy, organized the event. The Curry County Cruisers are sponsors for this year’s car show. All money raised at the car show will help fund local MDA programs and services, including support groups and equipment such as wheelchairs and leg braces. The proceeds will also support a clinic at Providence Medford Medical Center and help send Oregon children with muscle wasting diseases to MDA summer camp each year. MDA is the nonprofit health agency dedicated to curing muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases by funding worldwide research. The Association also provides comprehensive health care and support services, advocacy and education. The majority of contributions to MDA come from individual donors. Anyone interested in entering a car or sponsoring the event should contact Arlene Wedsted at (541) 858-9815 or e-mail This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it |
