Warrior soccer teams fall in season openers

 Del Norte High boys goalie Scottie Skeen makes a save against Eureka at home on Wednesday. The Daily Triplicate/Bryant Anderson The Del Norte High girls and boys soccer teams both fell in their season openers to Eureka at home on Wednesday.
The Warrior boys lost 3-0 while the girls fell 5-0.
Boys co-coach A.J. Myer-Zlokovich said the team did not seem in sync and let the Loggers get too many shot chances. He commended goalkeeper Scottie Skeen for his top-notch play.
“He was an animal,” he said, adding that Skeen saved numerous shots on goal and the score would have been much higher without him.
 Rachel Lawrence of the Del Norte High girls soccer team dribbles down the field against Eureka. The Daily Triplicate/Bryant Anderson Girls coach Clar Byers commended his team for calming down after giving up three goals in the first half and playing better as the game went on.
The girls have just added a game versus Brookings-Harbor at home. The game is set for 4 p.m on Monday. A junior varsity game will be played at 6 p.m.
The boys next play against St. Bernard’s at home on Wednesday. The girls also play the Crusaders at home. Both games are at 5 p.m.
