Calvin C. Wayne
Calvin C. Wayne, 70, died August 17, in Crescent City. Cal was born in Detroit, Michigan, but grew up in Southern California graduating from Citrus High School in Glendora. He went to college at Mt. San Antonio in Walnut Creek, studying crimin-ology and law and becoming a deputy sheriff in Santa Barbara. He moved to Oregon where he worked in the Jackson County Sheriff’s Depart-ment and was an Oregon State Policeman. While in Medford he started Scotty’s RV Mobile Service in 1972 servicing Southern Oregon and Northern California. He moved with his business to Crescent City in 2001, where he was recognized as businessman of the year in 2003. Cal was a long-time member of the Free Masons, Shriners, Elks, Eagle and Moose Lodges and active in the community. He sponsored the first dog for the K-9 Division of the Del Norte County Sheriff’s Depart-ment. Cal is survived by his wife, Miriam; his two daughters, Katherine Louise Wayne and husband, Patrick Daggitt of Medford and Sandra Linn Webb and husband, Mark Webb of Central Point; two granddaughters; two grandsons; and four stepdaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Louise Wayne, and his only brother, Delbert Wayne. Cal’s body was accepted by Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Oregon, in accordance with his long time wishes. A memorial service will be held at the Masonic Lodge in Crescent City at 1 p.m. September 12.
