DN girls golf team competes in Fortuna

The Del Norte High girls golf team competed in a Humboldt-Del Norte Conference meet at the Redwood Golf and Country Club in Fortuna on Monday. Originally, the event on Monday was to be held at the Del Norte Golf Course but was recently switched. The home match will now be on Sept. 28, Warrior head coach Chris Rice said. Senior Kayla Bohannon had the top score for Del Norte for the third straight time with a 120. Sophomore Sydney Benson finished with a 122 while Nikki Fugate shot a 128. Kelsi Bomke finished with a score of 132, Shelby Slayton shot a 134 and Madison Vanvalkenburgh shot a 140. Rice said this was the first time this year three Warrior players shot below a 130 and said he is pleased with the “steady improvement,” the team has shown. Del Norte next competes on Sept. 22 at the Eureka Municipal Golf Course. |
