Concert group presents Canadian Tenors The Del Norte-Curry Community Concert Association presents its second performance of the season, The Canadian Tenors, at 7:30 Oct. 13 in Crescent Elk Auditorium. The Tenors will feature a mix of music and sounds from theater, classical, operetta and alternative world pop music, singing in English, French, Portuguese, Italian and Maltese. Admission is open to all who hold season memberships, and individual performance tickets cost $15 at the door. For more information, call 458-3373 or 465-6572.
This is the last week to view the current Art in Public Places exhibit up in the courthouse. “The Great Outdoors” is a one-person show of 22 nature photographs by Crescent City artist Alan Justice, which will hang through Friday. Lighthouse Repertory Theatre's production of the world’s longest running musical, “The Fantasticks,” opens with a sneak preview at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 8 in Crescent Elk Auditorium, for which tickets cost $7 each. It will also have evening shows at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 9, 10, 16 and 17 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees Oct. 11 and 18 beginning at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $12 for adults, and $8 for children 17 and under and seniors 55 years and over, and are available at Del Norte office Supply and the door. A production of “The Zoo Story” by Edward Albee will open at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8 at Muse Theatrix, 1240 Chetco Ave. in Brookings. “The Zoo Story” is directed by Kirsten Randrup and features Howard Patterson and Crescent City actor Ron Cole. Shows will be held at 7 p.m. on Oct. 8, 9, and 15-17, with a 2 p.m. matinee on Oct. 18. Tickets are $10. For reservations or more information, call (541) 251-4027.
Brookings Harbor Community Theater’s production of “Don’t Dress For Dinner,” an adult comedy, opens Friday, Oct. 9 in the harbor Performing Arts Center in Brookings. Written by Marc Camoletti and directed by Colleen Harrison, “Don’t Dress For Dinner” will run for three weekends, ending Oct. 25. Friday and Saturday shows begin at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 each and are available at Mory’s, Words and Pictures and Chetco Pharmacy and Gifts. CenterArts presents Merle Haggard on Sunday at 8 p.m. in the Van Duzer Theatre at Humboldt State University. Haggard, 72, leads one of country music’s most improvisatory bands. He’s recorded more than 600 songs, had 40 No. 1 hits and his composition, “Today I Started Loving You Again” has been recorded by nearly 400 other artists.
