The Daily Triplicate/Rick Postal The Del Norte High girls golf team hosted its first and only Humboldt-Del Norte Conference golf meet of the year at the Del Norte Golf Course on Monday.
The Warriors placed 5th overall with a total score of 640. McKinleyville continued to dominate the HDNC and took first place.
For Del Norte, senior Kayla Bohannon scored a 117 to lead the squad. This was the third time this year she shot a 117.
Next for the Warriors was Nikki Fugate, who finished with a score of 126, while Sydney Benson shot a 127.
Kelsi Bomke shot a 133 while Jessica Cole finished with a score of 137.
Madison Vanvalkenburgh shot a 139 while Katie Quick finished with a score of 142.
Head coach Chris Rice said his young team remained fairly steady in their performance and are continuing to improve their golfing skills.
He added that “it was nice to be playing on our home course.”
The Warriors next play on Oct. 8 at Baywood Golf and Country Club in Arcata
Del Norte finishes the regular season on Oct. 13 at Big Foot Golf Course in Fortuna.
