DN Warriors fall to Arcata in girls tennis

The Del Norte High girls tennis team fell to Arcata 9-0 on the road on Tuesday.

In the No. 1 singles match  Warrior Kathryn Gustafson lost her first contest of the year to Abi Black  6-1, 3-6, 7-5 to drop to 5-1 for the season.

“Kathryn Gustafson has been getting over the flu and had a hard time sustaining her energy for such a long match,” head coach Trudi Zottola-Gugliemini said. “She did really well but was unable to win the third set.” 

No. 2 seed Meghan Webb lost to Selina Ricord 6-1, 6-2 while Samantha Bausch fell to Gabby Ricord 6-0, 6-0 in No. 3 singles play.  
                                                                
No. 4 seed Kaitlyn Stephens was defeated by Olivia Johnson 6-0, 6-1 while No. 5 seed Whitney Gamboa lost to  Clair Appleman 6-4, 7-5. Hannah Seaton, the No. 6 seed, fell to Genna Damain 6-7, 4-6, 6-2. Del Norte also lost its three doubles matches with the No. 2 doubles matches being defaulted.

The Warrior fell to 2-4 for the year.
