First Baptist Church to celebrate its 60th anniversary

On Oct. 18 the First Baptist Church at Pacific and G streets will celebrate its 60th anniversary. The day will begin with a worship service at 10 a.m. The former pastor Rod Murcray will be the guest speaker. Pastor Blake Inscore, our pastor, will be present. There will not be Sunday School on that day. We will join together for a luncheon at the Veterans Memorial Hall at 810 H St. following the service. To RSVP for the lunch call 464-4213.

The First Baptist Church was officially organized on Oct. 14, 1949, with a total of 24 members and met temporarily at the hall at 1072 Second St. An active building committee made plans for the erection of a new building in our present location.

The church is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention, a 16 million-member organization. This large group does mission work throughout the United States and the world, 10,000 missionaries worldwide. There are 40,000 First Baptist churches in the United States.
