• Ralph Cosmai, Sr., 84, died Oct. 13, 2009, in Gold Beach, Ore. He was born July 3, 1925 in Brooklyn, N.Y.. and had recently moved to Brookings from Crescent City.

Arrangements by Wier’s Mortuary Chapel of Crescent City.

• Oscar William Johnston, 78, died Oct. 14, 2009, in Smith River. He was born Jan. 10, 1931, in Covina, and was a 45-year resident of Del Norte County.

Memorial services will be held at the Smith River Methodist Church on Nov. 7 at 11 a.m. Contributions may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, 1301 Northcrest Drive, Crescent City, CA 95531. Arrangements by Wier’s Mortuary Chapel of Crescent City.
