Warrior girls golf team has best score of the season in final match

Things ended on a high note for the Del Norte High girls golf team Monday afternoon.
The girls shot a team score of 605, the best mark of the year as several girls achieved season best scores in the final Humboldt-Del Norte Conference match of the year at the Willow Creek Golf and Country Club. Del Norte finished in fourth place at an HDNC event for the first time this year.
“She played awesome,” Warrior head coach Chris Rice said. “All the girls shot well” Kelsi Bomke shot a 121, which was 16 shots better than her previous season best. Nikki Fugate shot a season best 122 while Sydney Benson also shot a 122, which was tied for her previous best score. Katie Quick finished with a score of 138. “I was proud we went out on a good note,” Rice said. |
Leading the way was senior Kayla Bohannon, who finished with a score of 102, 15 shots better than her previous best mark this year. She came in seventh place, one shot away from the sixth place finisher.
