Schellong attends city conference

Mayor Kelly Schellong represented the city of Crescent City at the League of California Cities 111th annual Conference on Sept. 16-18 in San Jose.

“Strong Cities, Strong State, Strong Nation,” was the theme of the event where 1,400 local government delegates from 360 of California’s cities gathered to exchange information and learn new ways to plan for and solve the critical issues faced by California’s cities.

Schellong and other attendees were briefed on important state legislation impacting cities and issues such as climate change, eminent domain reform, affordable housing, infrastructure, flood control, city finance and economic development.

Schellong participated in some of the nearly 60 workshops, as well as a resolution committee meeting as a League-voting delegate and a Coastal Cities regional meeting. Other topics of note at the conference included public safety, youth engagement and telecommunications.
