Obituary: Leonard Goodman (Dec. 21, 1936 - Oct 19, 2009)
Leonard Goodman was born on December 21, 1936, the son of Herman & Julia Goodman. He passed away in Crescent City on October 19, 2009, at the age of 72. Leonard was a 40-year resident of Del Norte County. Leonard proudly serviced in the Air Force for over 20 years. After moving to Crescent City in 1969, he became a commercial fisherman until his retirement in 2008.
Leonard enjoyed many hobbies, including gardening, tinkering in his shop, playing cribbage, poker and he was an avid golfer. He belonged to the Crescent City Cribbage Club and Commercial Fisherman’s Association. Leonard loved to be with people, and his warm, friendly manner kept him surrounded with many friends. He is survived by his loving wife Gail of 52 years; his son Daniel and daughter Debora. Six grandsons - Daniel, Ryan, Michael, Joseph, Neil and Chad. Two great grandchildren, Michael and Tyler. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial services will be held at Wier’s Mortuary Chapel on Friday, October 23rd, at 11 a.m. In honor of Leonard, donations may be made to one’s favorite charity. Arrangements are under the direction of Wier’s Mortuary Chapel of Crescent City.
