Lois M. Keeling, 77, of Crescent City died Wednesday, November 4, 2009, after an extended illness.

She was born November 23, 1931, in Tormey, to Robert and Gladys (Hammell) Engle.  Lois spent some of her childhood in Los Angeles before moving to Crescent City where she lived for the last 60 years.  In 1949, she married James Keeling and began her career of raising her family and running her home.

Lois loved the out-of- doors, working in her garden, feeding the birds, going fishing, and going camping with her family.  When James passed away in 1972, she continued to provide a home base for her kids, a place to stay connected, celebrating the holidays and special occasions.  She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Jim and Martha Keeling, George Keeling and companion, Marvena, Phillip Keeling of Crescent City, and Joanne Keeling of Trinidad; her sisters, Mary Ellen "Tudy" (Engle) Worthington and Alice (Engle) Kellogg of Crescent City; her grandchildren, James Keeling, Marie and husband, Eric (Keeling) Eggen, Kimberely and husband, Josh (Keeling) Quintal, Skip and Isaac Keeling and Brandee Keeling; and by three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her brothers, James, Clinton, and Frank Engle and by her sisters, Charlotte (Engle) Rul, Dorothy (Engle) Walsh, and Gladys (Engle) Ogilvie.
