It’ll be a Civil War of sorts on Sunday when two Del Norte Youth Football teams face off for the Six Rivers Youth Football Championship in the AA division.

On Sunday in the AA division, the Del Norte Blue team dominated Hoopa 28-0 in Crescent City. The Del Norte Gold team traveled to Ferndale to face the Redwood Knights and won by the identical score of 28-0.

“Either way we’re a winner,” said Lance Scribner, a DNYF board member and acting president. He could not recall a previous time when two Del Norte teams faced each other for a title.

The game will be played at 11:30 a.m. at the Redwood Bowl at Humboldt State University in Arcata.

In the A division, the DNYF  White team beat the Redwood Knights 13-7 in Crescent City. It will now face the SHYF Bulldogs in the title match at 9 a.m., also at the Redwood Bowl.

The squad was the No. 3 seed and is the only DNYF squad that made the playoffs not to have a first round bye.

In other action Sunday, the DNYF AAA team, which came in with a 7-1 record, lost to the Redwood Knights 14-12 in Crescent City.

Articles about three DNYF squads still in the playoffs will appear in The Triplicate later this week.
