Obituary: Delbert L. Rackley (Aug. 20, 1950 - Nov. 11, 2009)

He was born August 20, 1950, in Bakersfield, lived his younger years in Boron, California, and spent his teen to adult years in Grants Pass, Ore. After living a number of years in Woodburn, Ore., and Cherryville, North Carolina, he moved with his family to Crescent City in May 2000.

Throughout his life Del worked as a lumberjack, die cut operator and plant supervisor in the box and paper tube industry.  He was a truck driver for Wendell Transport, but most recently for Snoozie Shavings in Crescent City.  He had a reputation of being a hard worker in all his endeavors. Del’s interests were varied; he collected toy trucks, enjoyed camping, hunting and all kinds of fishing.

Del is survived by his wife, Lynne; his mother, Virginia; brothers, Clinton and Melton; sister, Gloria Christine; his children, Patrick, Shelly Jo, Edward, Deanna, Neil, Malissa, Casey, Ryan, and Cody; and 22 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Tolbert; his brothers, Lester and Norman; sister, Laverne and sons, Jacob, David, and Justin.

Memorial service was graveside at the IOOF Cemetery in Crescent City at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, November 16th. Arrangements were under the direction of Wier’s Mortuary Chapel, Crescent City.  Delbert was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
