Woman hurt in crash |
An accident just south of the Oregon border on U.S. Highway 199 sent one person to the hospital Friday.
The head-on collision was the result of a southbound vehicle passing on a corner, according to the California Highway Patrol. Randy Cockrell, 50, of Fairview Ore., was driving his 2001 Dodge pickup south on Highway 199 behind another vehicle, a CHP report stated. Cockrell attempted to pass the vehicle in front of him while rounding a corner and ran head-on into a vehicle driven by Charmaine Taylor, 60, of Eureka. Taylor was taken to Three Rivers Hospital in Grants Pass for minor injuries and later released. There were no arrests, and Highway 199 was closed for less than an hour, the CHP said. |
