Obituaries: Amy Rachel Kaufman (Dec. 08, 1983 - Jan. 24, 2010) |
Amy Rachel Kaufmann, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 24th, 2010 at the age of 26. Amy was born on December 8th, 1983 at the old Sea Side Hospital in Crescent City. Amy lived her entire life in Crescent City. Amy graduated from Del Norte High in 2002. She had worked for the past several years at Crescent Animal Medical Center. Amy was a volunteer for the Humane Society’s K9 Olympics for 3 years and volunteered at Crescent Animal Medical Center’s free spay and neuter clinics. Amy enjoyed hiking, wilderness camping, snowboarding, mushroom hunting, fishing, rafting the Smith, traveling and playing softball. She loved animals of all sorts, especially her dog Green.
Amy is survived by her parents, John and Linda Kaufmann of Crescent City; her brothers: Andrew, stationed at RAF Lakenheath, England, Michael of Texarkana, Texas, and Brian of Quinlan, Texas; grandparents Richard and Esther Kalinay of Bakersfield and Walt and Edie Kaufmann of Calistoga and Green. A private family memorial will be held and a celebration of Amy’s life will be held for all of her friends and the community in the spring. Further information will be forthcoming. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Amy Kaufmann Memorial Fund, c/o the Wild Rivers Community Foundation, 501 H St. Suite #5, Crescent City, CA 95531. This fund will provide for local pet services in which Amy had a special interest and lifelong love of animals. Arrangements are under the direction of Wier’s Mortuary Chapel of Crescent City, Calif.
