Del Norte downs Crusaders

Earns 48-34 road win in Eureka

The Del Norte High girls varsity basketball team took control in the second half in a 48-34 win against St. Bernard’s  on Wednesday night.

It was a sluggish first quarter  for the  Warriors as they struggled putting in easy buckets and were tied at 12-12 at the end of the quarter. The team settled down and took a 21-17 lead at the half.

In the second Del Norte started to make shots and took a 35-23 lead after three periods on its way to the 14-point non-conference win against the Crusaders of the Little 4.

“We came out with more energy in the second half,” Warrior head coach Buzz McCulloch said. “All in all the girls played well.”

Del Norte had a balanced attack as seven Warriors scored. They  were paced by senior Lexie Nelson who had an excellent game with 15 points. Fellow senior Lauryn Lesina finished with 10 points.
