Crescent City driver in fatal Oregon wreck |
A Crescent City driver struck and killed an Oregon man in Harbor on Wednesday night, according to the Oregon State Police. There are no charges pending, according to OSP Lt. Gregg Hastings. Police said Larry R. Watson, 57, was driving his 1990 Ford Tempo southbound in the left lane on U.S. Highway 101 at 8:42 p.m. Lloyd Anthony Bell Sr. 52, from Central Point, Ore., was crossing the highway from a shopping center on the east side. The Tempo struck Bell at the intersection of U.S. Hwy. 101 and Hoffeldt Lane in front of The Apple Peddler Restaurant. Bell was airlifted to Sutter Coast Hospital and pronounced dead 30 minutes later, police said. “There’s no indication he was under any sort of influence — Mr. Watson remained there the entire time,” said Hastings.
