A single-vehicle crash Monday morning on Highway 101 sent five people to the hospital, with two passengers sustaining moderate injuries.

At approximately 3:55 a.m., Andrea Grozav, 25, of Crescent City, was driving northbound near mile post marker 17 at an unknown speed when the vehicle went off the road and collided with a mile post marker and a dirt embankment, the California Highway Patrol said.

The impact caused the vehicle to overturn and come to rest on its roof in the northbound lane.

The occupants of the vehicle were transported to Sutter Coast Hospital in Crescent City. Grozav suffered moderate injuries as did 6-year-old Jesse Grozav.

Lawrence Tinetti, 24, and Andreas Tinetti, 2, both of Crescent City, and Melissa Rashed, 16, of Petaluma, suffered minor injuries.

At this time, neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be factors in this crash, the CHP said.
