Bicoastal Media buys 14 Oregon radio stations

The Associated Press

MEDFORD, Ore. - A California company that bought five radio stations earlier this year from U.S. Rep. Greg Walden has purchased 14 more in Oregon.

Bicoastal Media, of Lakeport, agreed to pay about $37 million to Clear Channel Communications, which has been selling stations in smaller markets. The company owns radio stations in Crescent City.

In the deal are five stations in Medford, four in Eugene and five in Albany and Corvallis.

Bicoastal President Mike Wilson said the company likes the management at the stations and doesn't expect to cut jobs. "They're staffed pretty lean for the volume they do," he said.

Besides the stations it bought from Walden and his wife, the company has stations in Coos Bay in Oregon.

It also has stations in Washington state and California. Its Web site said it owns or operates a total of 33, not including the new purchases. Wilson said the company expects to announce more purchases.
