The annual Summer Street Fair is planned for Friday in downtown Crescent City.
The Downtown Crescent City Business Improvement District and business members in the downtown area will hold special sales and events.
The Daily Triplicate, a downtown improvement member, is also a co-sponsor of the event.
Most stores participating in the event will be open until 7 p.m. so residents who work 9-to-5 can attend the street fair. The event begins at noon.
The kids section is in the Downtown Plaza, where kids can visit with TripliCat, the Triplicate's mascot, or explore the Wonderbus. Kids also can let their imaginations run free at the Library Story Time while their parents attend the Book Sale put on by the Friends of the Library.
The Del Norte Historical Society Museum will offer free admission from noon until 7 p.m.
Free samples also will be offered from select businesses. Glen's Bakery on the corner of G and Third Streets will be offering boysenberry cobbler and cookie samplers.
Jazzercise is offering free bottled water and a demonstration later that day in the Downtown Plaza. And if your body aches after the Jazzercise session, The Bodyworks Spa will have complimentary chair massages and popcorn for a quick snack.
For fairgoers with a sweet-tooth, Angel Faces by the Sea will offer punch and cookies.
Businesses also will have special sidewalk-sales.
The Grocery Outlet is having a "Parking Lot Produce Tent Sale."
Leslie's Collectibles, a new business to the downtown area, will have a Grand Opening, with super-savings and treats.
Beauty Secrets' Downtown Grounds also will offer two-for-one drink specials.
