In May, a local man was robbed at gunpoint of his winnings at a local casino. A police report was filed and then on June 27, the alleged robber and two accomplices assaulted the man, authorities said.
Two of the suspects approached the man’s vehicle and pulled him out of it, attacked him, bound him, put him back in the vehicle and drove him to Kerbyville, Ore., said sheriff’s Commander Bill Steven. One of the suspects had a firearm that was used to pistol-beat the man, Steven said.
In between beatings in Oregon, the victim was able to escape his captors and run to a local motel where he contacted his girlfriend to come pick him up, Steven said.
The man suspected of robbing the victim and also kidnapping him is 30-year-old Crescent City resident Mike Waters, Steven said.
The alleged accomplices are 24-year-old Brookings resident Josh Bond and 35-year-old Smith River resident Bonnie Steel, Steven said.
All three are wanted for attempted murder and kidnapping, authorities said.
If any of the three are located, it is advised not to make contact but instead contact the Sheriff’s Office at 464-4191 or 911 or text information to “dnsotip” to 847411.
